Gentle Start for 2021 Bol d’Or Mirabaud

  • The more than 440 boats of the 82nd Bol d'Or Mirabaud set off this morning at precisely 10:00, to the sound of the 1602 Company cannon fired by King Jean - Jean Le Cam, ambassador of the BOM 2021.

The multihulls, led by the Ventilos M2 Degroof Petercam, Wize TeamWork and TF35 Spindrift Racing, set off from the starting line offshore of Tour Carrée, heading for the Grand Lac (central lake) along the Swiss coast, since the bypass buoy used in recent years has been replaced by an additional entry buoy at Le Bouveret, with the aim of distancing the boats as they leave the Geneva harbor and opening up their strategic options.

As for the monohulls, they set their sails offshore of Port Tunnel. Among them, a good participation of 95 Surprises and 28 Grand-Surprises, the two most important fleets of this edition. The favorite of the monohulls, the Hungarian Libera Raffica, has stuck with the M2s for the moment at the front of this 82nd edition of the Bol d'Or Mirabaud, having managed the first minutes of the race particularly well.

The road is long, and there will undoubtedly be many twists and turns, despite the lack of wind this morning. To follow on our LIVE platforms, and on the map, click here.
