Starting gun of the 80th!

  • 543!That’s the number of boats starting this morning offshore from the Société Nautique de Genève for the 80th edition of the Bol d’Or.

At ten o’clock on Saturday morning, 543 boats were fighting for position on the starting line offshore from the Société Nautique de Genève. At the cannon, nothing! Or less the nothing. With only a one knot hint of wind, most sails had difficulty filling. Quickly the large Léman multihulls headed off for business, Safram and the M2 fleet included. These conditions are perfect for their size.

Most competitors chose the Swiss shore. The leaders didn’t hesitate to sail close to land at Versoix.

At the separation mark, a rather random ranking was observed with an M1, a large monohull, a little M2 and Safram in sequence: Dona Bertarelli’s Ladycat, which quickly took leadership of the fleet, the Hungarian boat Raffica with its impressive hiking platforms, M2 Teamwork and Rodolphe Gautier’s Safram. At the strike of noon, the first boats shifted to the French side near Yvoire with Ladycat still leading. Among monohulls, Hungarian boat Taxiphone Premium Raffica leads the fleet, sailing amidst the multihulls at 12 :30.
