The Bol d’Or Mirabaud invites the Tour de Belle-Ile

  • This year, the famous French regatta Tour de Belle-Ile won’t  be organized. The Bol d’Or Mirabaud took the opportunity to invite our French friends to join the event in Geneva ! The Bol d’Or Mirabaud organizing committee decided to offer the registration fee to all sailors of the Tour de Belle-Iles that will come to Switzerland in June.

For years, the TOUR DE BELLE-ILE has maintained ties of friendship with its Swiss counterpart, the BOL D'OR MIRABAUD, the mythical race created in 1939 on Lake Geneva.

Saturday, June 11, 2016, more than 500 boats will take the start of this classical lake regatta, uniting professionals and amateurs on the traditional 66 nautical mile racecourse starting at the Société Nautique de Genève.

Whether a small mono-hull, a fast catamaran or a cruiser, almost anything that floats can participate. Watch out though, this does not mean that the race is just a walk in the park for freshwater sailors. Along the racecourse, there are more than eleven local dominating winds whose strength and direction vary according to location and the influence of surrounding mountains. The sailing is breathtaking amid fabulous scenery that varies between different lake sectors, and with varying bays and shorelines extending along the French and Swiss coasts. Similarly to the TOUR DE BELLE-ILE, but with vessels adapted to the lake, professionals and amateurs rub shoulders on the water aboard their cruising boats or their racing machines such as D35s and other fast designs.

Since this year we won’t have the chance to meet at the TOUR DE BELLE-ILE, we invite you to taste the pleasure of sailing in the heart of the Swiss Alps.  Exceptionally in 2016, the BOL D'OR MIRABAUD organizers are happy to offer free registration to TOUR DE BELLE-ILE crews who wish to bring their boats to Lake Geneva.

Visit the race website or its facebook page for practical information.

The TOUR DE BELLE-ILE is happy to offer this opportunity to its loyal participants, and thanks the BOL D'OR MIRABAUD for its friendly gesture during this year without the TOUR DE BELLE-ILE (it’s been delayed until 2017).

Sailors are awaited in Switzerland on June 11, 2016  for the BOL D'OR MIRABAUD, then in May 2017 for the 9th edition of the TOUR DE BELLE-ILE at La Trinité-sur-Mer.
